Embroidered patches are a fun and versatile way to add a personal touch to your clothing, bags, or accessories. Whether you want to showcase your favorite band, show off your personality, or simply cover up a hole in your favorite jacket, ironing on embroidered patches is a simple and effective way to achieve that. In this blog post, we will guide you through the process of ironing on embroidered patches like a pro.
What You Will Need:
To successfully iron on embroidered patches, you will need the following supplies:
- An iron or heat press.
- An ironing board or a flat, heat-resistant surface
- The garment or item you want to attach the patch to
- One of our embroidered patches of your choice
- A thin cotton cloth or a pressing cloth
Our Step-by-Step Guide:
Follow these steps to ensure a secure and long-lasting attachment of your embroidered patch:
Step 1: Preheat your iron
Preheat your iron to it's medium temperature settings. Do NOT use steam!
Step 2: Prepare the Patch and Garment
Make sure the garment is clean and dry. Place the garment on a flat surface. Make sure the fabric of the garment can withstand the heat of the iron.
Step 3: Preheat the Garment
Preheat the surface of the garment where the patch will be attached for 10-20 seconds
Step 4: Placement of the Patch
Place your item in its intended position on the application surface. Cover your item with a thin cloth or similar protective material.
Step 3: Protect the Patch
Place the thin cotton cloth or pressing cloth over the patch to protect it from direct heat. This will prevent the patch from getting damaged during the ironing process.
Step 5: Apply Heat to Front of Patch
Press the iron firmly straight down over the patch and hold it in place for about 20-30 seconds. Apply even pressure and make sure to cover the entire patch with the iron. Do NOT move the iron around.
Step 6: Apply Heat to Rear of Patch
Turn the garment inside out (if possible) and repeat step 5.
Step 7: Cool the Patch and Garment
Allow the garment and patch to completely cool for at least one (1) minute.
Step 8: Check the Adhesion
Gently check if the patch is firmly attached. If not, repeat the steps.
(optional but encouraged)
Step 9: Sew border
It is recommended our iron-on patches be sewn on after placement to ensure they stay permanently attached.
By following these simple steps, you can easily iron on embroidered patches to your favorite items and showcase your unique style. Remember to always refer to the specific instructions provided with your embroidered patch for the best results.
